FrameMaker 7 Advanced

This two-day course is designed for experienced FrameMaker users who will be responsible for creating complex documents, books and templates. The course features full-time hands-on at your own workstation, with ample opportunity to ask questions and examine your own requirements.

OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE

This 2 day course is designed for users who will be responsible for creating and maintaining templates.

Beginners should attend the FrameMaker Fundamentals course first.

INTENSITY: About 50% of the course is practicals, and 50% lectures.

RESOURCE: Each student will have exclusive use of a PC workstation for the duration of the course. Each student will be provided with a full set of training notes relating to the course.

Printer(s) are provided on this course so that students can learn how to use them, and also take away printed copies of their work.

PREREQUISITES: Knowledge of FrameMaker up to a level taught in our FrameMaker Fundamentals course is essential.

FOLLOW UPS: Students on UNIX and Sun platforms may also benefit from the following course which would give essential instruction in the use and control of files and directories, plus use of the Window System Introduction to Solaris

PRACTICALS / TAKEAWAYS: Each student leaves the course with his own set of training notes for the material covered; around 120 pages per day of training.

Every student who attends this course at our Banbury training centre will be issued with a signed certificate of course completion, which we will be happy to "authenticate" upon future request.
Students on this course can print out their work and take it away with them.

SOFTWARE VERSIONS: This course covers version 7 of FrameMaker on PC, Mac and Unix platforms. Please call us for details.

Template Creation
Create a complete FrameMaker template from scratch including character and paragraph formats,master pages and variables.

Tables of Contents
Creating and updating a Table of Contents for a stand alone document. Creating a Table of Contents template.

Indexing
Learn the syntax for creating simple and complex Indexes.Generate an Index for a stand alone document.Create an Index Template.

Book Building
Create a Book file from scratch.Set-up document numbering and pagination properties across the book.Move files within the book.Insert a Table of Contents and Index file into the book.Update the book to ensure cross-reference are linked,and the table of contents and index file are displaying the correct text and page numbers.

Colour
Importing Colour into documents from commercial colour palettes and assigning to text,graphics and table objects.

Equations
Inserting and editing Equations into your document using the equation editor.
