FrameMaker 7 Basics/Intermediate

This two-day course is designed for novices or those have simply "dabbled" with the product, and provides a solid foundation of FrameMaker knowledge and practical use, with full hands-on experience at all stages.

To introduce newcomers to Adobe's FrameMaker package, and teach them the basic practical skills to make use of it.

INTENSITY: About 60% of the course is practicals, and 40% lectures.

RESOURCE: Each student will have exclusive use of a PC for the duration of the course. Each student will be provided with a full set of training notes relating to the course.

Printer(s) are provided on this course so that students can learn how to use them, and also take away printed copies of their work.

PREREQUISITES: Basic keyboard skills are desirable, but no previous DeskTop Publishing experience is required. Some previous use of a word processor would be an advantage. Please call if you require any advice.

FOLLOW UPS: This 3 day course is designed as a preliminary grounding for new users of the FrameMaker 7 product, and is a natural pre-cursor of our course FrameMaker Advanced

Students on UNIX and Sun platforms would also benefit from our Introduction to Solaris course which gives essential instruction in the use and control of files and directories, plus use of the Window System.

PRACTICALS / TAKEAWAYS: Each student leaves the course with his own set of training notes for the material covered; around 120 pages per day of training.

Every student who attends this course at our training centre will be issued with a signed certificate of course completion, which we will be happy to "authenticate" upon future request.
Students on this course can print out their work and take it away with them.

SOFTWARE VERSIONS: Covers FrameMaker Version 7 on Unix, Mac and PC platforms.

Creating a New Document based on an existing Template.Understanding the differen ce between character and paragraph formats.Applying Paragraph and Character form ats.

Creating and Modifying Formats
Discover the role of the Character and Paragraph designer.Creating, Modifying an d Deleting formats to include complex numbering systems. Appreciate the strength of FrameMaker by importing and updating formats across files.

Graphics
Creating simple line art with FrameMaker s graphic drawing tools. Understanding page and text anchored graphics.Setting text run-around properties.Manipulating anchored frames and understanding import by reference and by copy.

Tables
Inserting and manipulating Tables.Understanding the role of custom ruling and sh ading.Using the Table Designer to produce stylised table formats.
